Maas has a gift for writing her characters as though they are in fact real people. It's one of my favorite things about her books! Also, I loved that Maas didn't stick with just using elements from the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. There were a lot of pieces of the Scottish fairy tale, Tam Lin, in there as well as some Cinderella elements in there. I ended up enjoying it and I can't wait for the next one! I liked the love conquers all thing too but I'm not a big romance fan so maybe that is why I like Throne of Glass more. Plus like I said, I'm not a big first books fan so we'll see where the series goes before I can definitively say I prefer ToG. I hate insta-love too! I did like that this was a hate to love kind of thing it just didn't move as slow as I would like. That's probably why I liked Rhys the best, with him it felt like a slow attraction. With Tamlin it was totally physical but with Rhys it was emotional for me.

I am going to BEA but not BookCon. I don't think Sarah will be at BEA but I really wish she was. I need to meet her one of these days.My Thoughts.... Her characters are exactly like real people and just so amazing that I would want them as friends. Is it bad to love Feyre far more than I love Celaena? I really enjoyed Feyre's realization that she has a fear and hatred for the fae but falls in love with one anyway because love always prevails. The first half was world-building, but in a good way so that it wasn't so boring and filled with info-dumps. A problem with fantasy books these days is that they are filled with insta-love. I liked this novel i particular because you could feel the slow and gradual process of Tamlin and Feyre's love. BTW I read Throne of Glass but I loved Tamlin more than Chaol now :D

You're my new book buddy, didya know that? Just two girls who are obsessed with the ToG and ACOTAR... or just Sarah in general. Are u going to BookCon/BEA? She's going to be there and I'm stalking her there haha!!

Awesome review, as always :D

Alex @ The Book's BuzzThe Book's Buzzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787038277680033672noreply@blogger.com
