Top Ten Tuesday: Series That l Quit

A weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

I hate being a quitter. But in all honesty there are some series that I either don't have a lot interest in finishing or just haven't been able to squeeze them into the schedule. So many books so little time which of course means different things depending on what book you are talking about.

I Won't Be Finishing These Series
1.) Caster Chronicles by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia - My Review
I read the first book and was into it until the ending. There was absolutely no resolution after everything it was building to it felt like a waste. I heard the rest of the books are much the same.

2.) Taken trilogy by Erin Bowman - My Review
I really should finish this series. I mean I only have one more book. But I'm not really into dystopia these days and I didn't like this book and especially it's MC when I was into the genre. I kind of want to know how it ends but not that much.

3.) All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness - My Review
You probably know I hated the first book in this series. I talk about it all the time. A very small part of me is curious about the next two books in the hopes that it gets better because I really should have liked this book but I'll probably end hating them too.

4.) Hexed trilogy by Michelle Krys - My Review
I read this book around the time that I was real disappointed by stories about witches. And this was my biggest frustration. I was not a fan of this book, it was full of tropes that I really don't enjoy. I was so excited about it too.

5.) Dorothy Must Die trilogy by Danielle Paige - My Review
I liked this first book all right but in all honesty my interest in the rest of the series has faded a lot. When book 2 came out I had almost no interest in reading it. Even if I heard great things about it I may not finish it.

Books With Sequels Coming I Probably Won't Read
6.) Red Queen trilogy by Victoria Aveyard - My Review
I didn't love this book. There was so much hype around it and I bought into it. But with book 2 there is just as much hype and excitement for everyone except me it feels like. I don't know I won't read the sequel and will probably abandon this series completlet

7.) The Girl at Midnight trilogy by Melissa Grey - My Review
This is the kind of book I should have liked but I didn't find it as creative as I would have hoped. Maybe my taste in these kind of books has changed but I just wasn't really into and I don't have much interest to continue with the series.

8.) Seeker series by Arwyn Elys Dayton - My Review
Sometimes I like weird books and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I like books where the world building is subtle and sometimes I don't. I just didn't connect with Seeker. So with the sequel coming out this winter I won't be reading it.

9.) Hold Me Like a Breathe by Tiffany Schmidt - My Review
I was excited about this retelling that incorporated organized crime but I wasn't blown away and now I don't have a lot of interest in continuing with the series. I just don't think it worled for me despite there being some pretty good elements I'll abandon this one.

Ones I Abandoned But May Finish
10.) Blackbird by Anna Carey - My Review
The second book in this duology just came out. I want to read it but I have absolutely no idea when I will be able to read it. I wanted to include it as part of my mystery month but didn't. Now I'm not sure. I'm super curious about how it will end.

11.) Miss Peregrine's School trilogy by Ranson Riggs - My Review
I was surprised by the first book in this trilogy but I liked it. Now that I know what I'm getting myself into I'm almost more interested in this series and yet I haven't read it. I may actually squeeze it into a time travel month I am planning for the winter.

12.) Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter - My Review
I actually really loved this series but it ran away for me and now I have four books to read. Even though they are quick I'm not sure when I will be able to get to them. But I really want to try and make it happen.

13.) The Elemental Trilogy by Sherry Thomas - My Review
I didn't love the first book in this series but it had a lot of promise. I have seen people raving about the final book which just came up? and it's making me want to read the two books I haven't read yet. I don't know I'm such a sucker for fantasy.

14.) Half Bad trilogy by Sally Green - My Review
Speaking of being a sucker for fantasy. I liked this one too but I wasn't blown away by it. So when the second book came out I didn't pick it up but when the third comes out next spring I may marathon it although I have heard some mixed review on book 2 so I'm not sure.

What books and series have you given up on? Are there any books that I should continue with? Leave me a comment with your thoughts. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY READING!

  1. The only books I've read from the list are Red Queen and most of the Gallagher Girls series. I haven't read the other books, and the list has some books I was already unsure about. I so rarely DNF books or series.

  3. Aww sad face that you didn't like The Girl at Midnight and Red Queen. Those are the two I really want to try. The Caster Chronicles and Half Bad trilogy are ones I definitely won't be reading :P

  4. Ah, cringing over Dorothy Must Die, The Girl at Midnight...I still need to read Red Queen, but I might be cringing over that too! Lol.

Well, at least you've weeded out at least 14 series to stop reading which is less for the TBR pile!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  5. Hahahah Seeker! I didn't like that book very much. Also The Burning Sky has a rough start, but the second book is definitely an improvement. And I won't be reading the sequel to The Girl At Midnight either. It was just way to similar to Daughter of Smoke & Bone for me!

  6. I haven't read all of those books, but I agree with you and the ones I've read I'll quit the sequels, too.
I found Beautiful Creatures really bad, specially.

  7. Well, you've definitely given me a head's up on which series to stay away from. ;] I thought Dorothy Must Die was quite bad, but I want to read the sequel to see if it is just as bad... weird logic I know. The 2nd Sherry Thomas book is way better than the first one! So I'd recommend continuing that series, I do need to read the last one though, I hope it is good. :)

  9. I am not sure if I'll read the sequel of Seeker or not myself... there were things I really liked but the different POVs were a bit difficult to read sometimes, so even if I curious to read more about the hints of the bigger picture... I'm not sure I want to put the kind of effort I did into Seeker...
