Top Ten Tuesday: 2015 Debuts I'm Excited About

A weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

I'm really excited about this week's prompt. Some of my most anticipated reads of the year are debuts. There are some truly amazing sounding debuts coming out this year. And because of this I am taking part in the 2015 Debut Author Challenge hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Here are fifteen debuts I'm excited about that I am hoping to check out as part of the challenge.

1.) The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall
Released January 13, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
This is totally a me book. I'm such a sucker for books that are about a globetrotting adventure and mystery to uncover secrets! I've seen some mixed reviews but these are the types of books that I usually love. One of my absolute favorite books, The Historian is like this.

2.) Shutter by Courtney Alameda
Released February 3, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
I need so good horror in my life. Something that will get my pulse pounding, something that will make me not want to turn the lights of. I've heard good things about this one and it sounds super creepy!

3.) Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Released February 10, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
I've seen some mixed reviews on this one but it sounds really fantastic to me! My favorite thing about most High Fantasy is the political intrigue, and the idea of it being based on blood sounds interesting. Plus that cover... Gorgeous!

4.) Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton
Released February 10, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
I got an ARC of this one from Netgalley and I'm really excited to check it out. The synopsis sounds really interesting and I like idea of a Fantasy with a lot of political intrigue where something you think is good turns out to be on the dubious side.

5.) The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury
Released February 24, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
I also got a copy of this ARC and I am absolutely ecstatic! I am unbelievably intrigued by the synopsis and the world. I'm always looking for a unique magical system and this seems like it would fit the criteria. Add an odious character and a darker sounding plot and I'm excited!

6.) A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas
Released February 24, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
I love retellings and this one sounds like a really unique one. Not only is it after the happily ever after but the after doesn't sound so happy. It's such a cool twist on a genre of books that I love.

7.) The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace
Released March 3, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
All right, so I'm excited about a lot of new fantasy. Anyone surprised? This is another one that sounds like a really unique world and magical system. I mean it combines theater and magic! Plus there's political intriguing and an kickass female heroine. Sign me up!

8.) Under A Painted Sky by Stacey Lee
Released March 17, 2014 (Add to Goodreads)
I'm a big fan of Historical fiction and I have been desperately waiting for a book that takes place along the Oregon Trail. I mean there's so much inherent drama! Plus the synopsis compared it to Code Name Verity and says that it has a good story of friendship which I always love.

9.) We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach
Released March 24, 2014 (Add to Goodreads)
This book sounds absolutely amazing because it sounds like nothing I have ever read before. It's basically apocalyptic fiction.  It's basically The Breakfast Club at the end of the world! It's a book I desperately need in my life!

10.) I Am Her Revenge by Meredith Moore
Released April 7, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
I'm not sure what genre this book is Fantasy, Dystopia, Contemporary? But what I do know is that it's about a kickass female assassin who has been trained to do something she may not entirely agree with. I need this book!

11.) An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Released April 28, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
You had me at Epic Fantasy set in a brutal Romanesque world! Plus I know a few people have read ARCs of this and really loved it so I am super excited to check it out. But regardless this sounds like an amazing fantasy with great characters and I hear it's pretty swoony! I seriously cannot wait to read it!

12.) The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Abdieh
Released May 12, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
This book is a romance based on A Thousand and One Nights. I don't usually like romances but I am so excited by the sounds of this world and I love the idea that it's a retelling. Plus the characters sound amazing and the plot sounds really mysterious. I won an ARC that I am really excited to read it!

13.) The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker
Released June 2, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
I've been a little disappointed by with books lately but this sounds really good. I've heard great things about it. Plus the plot sounds interesting and the complex themes regarding good and evil is always something I love in my reading.

14.) Court of Fives by Kate Elliot
Released August 18, 2015 (Add to Goodreads)
This is Kate's YA debut. I haven't read any of her fantasy but this book looks so good. And I usually hate the "this popular thing meets another popular thing" but it's been compared to Little Women which is one of my favorite books of all-time! The world and characters sound fascinating. I NEED IT SO BAD!

15.) This Monstrous Thing by Mackenzi Lee
Release Date to Come (Add to Goodreads)
A steampunk reimagining of Frankenstein. *drools* No but seriously, I've been really into steampunk and especially the Historical Fiction elements. Plus I really like Frankenstein and the themes about humanity. It sounds AH-MAZING!

What about you? What debuts are you excited about? Are any of these on your list? Have you read any of them already? Leave me a comment with your thoughts. Thanks for stoping by and HAPPY READING!

  11. Yep, your list is pretty similar to mine, except that I've already read a few of these so obviously there's no need for my continued excitement...except for others to read them. :) Just finished Seeker and it was so much better than I was expecting. Different but good. I also enjoyed A Wicked Thing. Hope you love all of these when you have them in your hands!
