August Wrap Up and September TBR

Read in August : ARC August
August was kind of a hit and miss month for me. I read some books that I absolutely loved but I also read some that didn't really work for me. I took part in ARC August which is a fun event hosted by the lovely ladies at Read Sleep Repeat. I had a goal of reading 10 ARCs and I didn't quite get there. I did read 9 however and I'm calling that a win.

As far as challenges go I am doing well and on track for most of them. I didn't read any e-ARCs so I'm still at 26 for the Netgalley/Edelweiss Challenge but I should still meet my goal of 40 with the books I have planned for the rest of the month. I read two more books for the Debut Author Challenge so I am at a total of 16 reads and on track for my goal of 20. And I read one book for my TBR Pile Challenge.

The Books
1.) Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine Rating: 9.5 out of 10 [Full Review]

To Be Read in September: Mystery
So after an unofficial theme in August it's back to official ones for September. This month's theme is Mystery. I love a good mystery, whether it's just a part of the story or the entire plot. There are so many books I'm planning to read this month that I am so excited about.

1.) Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman - Add to Goodreads
I actually already finished this as part of my ARC August and it was fantastic. I'm so glad YA Westerns have become a thing because I am such a fan!

2.) Lock and Mori by Heather W. Petty - Add to Goodreads
This is a Sherlock Holmes retelling set in modern day London with a female Moriarty. I'm about half way in and it's a really good mystery so far and very Sherlockian.

3.) Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas - Add to Goodreads
Do I even need to describe my excitement for this book. I'm dying for more Celaena Sardothian. I just reread this series and it's so epic and full of all the feels. The early reviews I've seen have said that is what this book is too.

4.) The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich - Add to Goodreads
I've heard good things about this book. It looks spooky and like an interesting mystery. I like that it's told in an epistolary format and I'm really excited to dive in.

5.) The Scam by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg - Add to Goodreads
I'm a fan of this series which is about a notorious thief and an FBI agent so I'm excited to check out the next installment. They're usually fun and interesting with great banter and interesting characters.

6.) Blood and Salt by Kim Liggett - Add to Goodreads
This is one of my most anticipated debuts of the year. All the early reviews from it are raving about how scary and mysterious it is. Plus the book trailer is flawless and makes me even more excited.

7.) Weight of Feathers by Ana-Marie McLemore - Add to Goodreads
This is not a mystery as far as I know but it sounds great. A Romeo and Juliet retelling and as much as I am romance-phobic, I love a tortured love story.

8.) Beastly Bones by William Ritter - Add to Goodreads
I am so unbelievably excited for more Jackaby. It was one of my favorite reads of 2014 and I loved the mystery and fantasy. I can't wait to reimmerse myself in this world.

9.) The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bow - Add to Goodreads
I was planning on reading this last month but I bumped it for Vengeance Road which was releasing sooner. It sounds like an interesting dystopia with a lot of political intrigue.

10.) Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - Add to Goodreads
Yeah, this is fantasy but it's also a heist story so it fits the theme. Plus it's Leigh Bardugo and set in the Grishaverse so I am obviously beyond excited to read it.

11.) This Monstrous Thing by Mackenzi Lee - Add to Goodreads
This has been one of my most anticipated debut of the year ever since I learned about it a year ago. It's a steampunk Frankenstein retelling which is just everything I need in my life.
