Top Ten Tuesday: 2016 Resolutions

A weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Reading Challenges:

1.) Read 150 Books

This is my Goodreads Challenge for the year. I did it in 2015 after resetting my goal twice, first from 100 and then from 120. I really didn't think I could do it but with rereads and a last minute push thanks to the His Dark Materials novellas and a comic, I did it. I want to do it again this year but I remain cautiously optimistic. Basically I need to do 12 books a month with a few really good months and that doesn't seem that hard based on my reading lately.

2.) Read 25 Debuts
I'm doing the Debut Author Challenge again. Last year I read 24 debuts. I was honestly surprised just how many debuts I read but there were so many that I was really excited about. This year there are even more debuts I cannot wait to read so I figured, this year I'll read one more.

3.) Reread 25 Books
This is basically to help me get to 150 for the year but also because I really enjoy marathoning series and with some sequels and series conclusions coming out this year I want to set a goal for rereads. Plus I realized recently that I really like reading books again.

4.) Read 25 Books I Already
I'm doing the Rock My TBR Challenge because I always feel like I have so many books that I buy and never read. As bloggers I think sometimes there is this desire to read the newest book and this challenge is a way to read those backlist books.

5.) Listen to 30 Audiobooks
I'm doing the Audiobook Challenge this year, which is a new challenge for me. But as a big audiobook fan, I'm so excited about it. Most of my rereads are via audio and I usually like to do one audiobook a month. Some books I just think fit the audio format so well/

6.) Get My Netgalley Percentage to 80%
I'm doing the Netgalley/Edelweiss Challenge again this year. And yes, I want to read at least 36 books from NG and EW again but my real goal is to get that percentage up to 80%. I usually hover around 75% and I got it up this year but I couldn't keep it that way.

7.) Maintain my Book Buying Ban
I'll do a whole discussion post about this later in the week but I need to be as good, if not better, at not buying books I don't plan on reading.

8.) Don't Be So Committed to Following a Reading Schedule
This sounds like a weird resolution but at the start of 2015 I found I wasn't enjoying what I was reading because I wouldn't DNF review books and I wasn't really reading what I wanted to read. I'm not really a mood reader and I like having a plan with my themed months but I don't want to be so stubborn about it. The last couple months of 2015 I had less review books and I would plan possible reads. That's how I want to do it for this whole year.

Blogging:

9.) Comment Back More
I always notice that at the end of the year I get really bad at responding to comments. This year I want to be better about not only responding to comments and commenting back to people who comment on my posts.

10.) Podcast
I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I listen to a lot of podcast both bookish and non-bookish and I have really been wanting to start one. I've talk about it with a few other bloggers and I think this will be the year I make it happen.

11.) Keep It Up
This is just sort of my standard resolution but you know what, sometimes it's nice to just give yourself a pat on the back for all your hard work from the previous year and say you want to do it again. I never expected to be blogging for over two full years so I want to do it again.

Those are my resolutions. What are yours? Are you doing any challenges? Leave me a comment with your thoughts. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY READING.

  1. I'm with you sister! I missed my Goodreads goal last year but I'm not surprised I had a lot going on still do but I'm making my goal this year! I have a bad habit of remembering who's blog to comment on and commenting back on the comments left on my blog. Bad blogger! Good luck with all of your goals!

  2. I joined the Rock My TBR Challenge for the same reason. My sister nagged me about trying audiobooks for years and I finally got into them last year. I also want to up my numbers for them this year. Happy New Year. :)

  6. I'm working on getting my NetGalley percentage up as well (it's close but still a few points away!)

Part of this means not requesting everything on impulse and then forgetting it's on the Kindle!

    Love all your goals.

  8. ALL of this is exciting ESPECIALLY #10!! EEEEPPPPP!! Ohh netgalley and your cursed 80% ratio goal. I swear each time I hit they approve me for a book I requested like 6 months ago just to ruin me! We are now book buying ban buddies! Also you are an AMAZING BLOGGER with great taste in books ;-) Always keep it up friend!

  10. Oh wow! Great resolutions!! I was never aware that was a Netgalley/Edelweiss challenge! I usually make those priority books anyway. Especially Netgalley because they are sooo nit picky with that new ratio system! My ration went down a point because I was reading a book too long! I was most upset with this!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!
