Feature & Follow Friday #4

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

                                                 How does this work?

First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

    This Weeks Question:
Bookselling Time: Go to your biggest bookcases. Go to the second shelf from the top and pick out the sixth book from the left. Handsell that book to us - even if you haven’t read it or if you hated it. (if you don’t have bookcases, done have six books on one shelf, etc, pick a book at random)

The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell
I'm not usually a huge fan of non-fiction especially ones that border on self-help but this book was great! A friend of mine had recommended I read Gladwell for years and when I finally did I was well, glad (HAHA, had too!). He is enough of a storyteller to keep a book engaging and interesting even though the subject matter can be a little dry. In this book he addresses how little things can make a big difference. He tells us the three rules of epidemics and the three types of people who make things happen. He uses familiar people, topics, and sociological concept to prove his point. There's a chapter on Paul Revere (who I hate), one on the cleanup of the New York subway system, one on syphillus in Baltimore, one of the emergence of penny loafers as a footwear trend, and one on kids shows like Sesame Street and Blues Clues... so something for everyone! I recommend this to anyone who likes non-fiction, is into sales or marketing (I suggest Gladwell revise this to include a chapter about Twitter), or anyone who likes to study psychology. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for hopping by and Happy #FF

  5. I don't think I would pick this one since I really don't read non-fictions books much more about self-help ones. I don't know but they seem preachy preachy to me. Hahaha.

    Glad that you love it.

Thanks for stopping by Thoughts and Pens.

  9. Hadn't heard of this book before - I'm not much of a non-fiction reader either, but there are some good books out there that I've made exceptions for. Thanks for stopping by my FF - sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you!
