Top Ten Tuesday - Book to Reread as Audiobooks

A weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish

You may know that I try to read at least one audio book a month. Certain books are just perfectly suited to that type of format. I mean sure, it all comes down to the narrator but I love listening to anything with a lot of action, mystery, and/or humor in the audio format. So I decided for this week to mention ten books I think would be great as audio books and are worth a reread.

1.) The Magicians trilogy by Lev Grossman (Goodreads / Audible)
I'm a big fan of this series and when I read the final book in July I realized how much I had forgotten about the previous books. It'd be great to reread it all from the beginning and is the kind of book I would like in audio.

2.) The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken (Goodreads / Audible)
Last night I finished In the Afterlight and my heart still hurts. It was a great ending to the series but the book hangover was immediate and extreme! Letting these characters go is bumming me out so now I want to reread the entire series from the beginning! Plus this series is full of action which I love in my audio books.

3.) His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman (Goodreads / Audible)
I mentioned this series recently when I did a banned books post. It's been so long since I read it that I realized I had forgotten everything except the basics. I'd love to fall back in love with Lyra, Will, and all the other characters in this trilogy.

4.) Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas (Goodreads / Audible)
So I know I just read this series recently but I really enjoyed the audio for The Assassin's Blade and never listened to the others. It may be worthwhile to reread the other books in the series as the release of Book 4 comes closer. Plus it may help the alternating perspectives problem I had with the books

5.) The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (Goodreads / Audible)
With Fairest coming out in February and Winter coming out next fall I could use a refresher on this series. It seems like the kind of book I would love as audio, it's tons of action and lots of humor. Similar SciFi books is what got me into audio in the first place

6.) These Broken Stars by Aime Kaufman and Megan Spooner (Goodreads / Audible)
This Shattered World, a companion novel to this one, is coming out next month and it would be great to reread this one to have my mind blown all over again. Plus I'm curious about alternating perspectives in the audio format.

7.) NIL by Lynne Matson (Goodreads / Audible)
The sequel to this book that I didn't even know was having a sequel is coming out in May and it would be worth a reread before NIL Unlocked comes out. Plus this book is full of action and mystery which I always love in my audio books.

8.) The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo (Goodreads / Audible)
This is one of my absolute favorite books and the book that inspired me to start my blog five years ago. It is full of great quotes and is definitely very atmospheric so I think the audio would be pretty good. It's been a long time since I read it so a reread is in order.

9.) The Luxe Series by Anna Godbersen (Goodreads / Audible)
Another favorite series that I haven't read in awhile. It has been years since I read the first two books and then I marathoned the last two a year and a half ago. I convinced one of my friends to read them and everything she mentions I barely remember.

10.) Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (Goodreads / Audible)
I'm usually more picky about my Contemporary novels than I am about my audio books and I rarely enjoy them together. Fangirl is full of humor and the audio will probably make me laugh out loud plus there are all the Levi swoons. But mostly I want to reread it.

(I'm cheating, I know but I have to put the quintessential reread book... Plus I'm counting series as one book. There's like a good twenty books here!)

11.) Harry Potter series by JK Rowling (Goodreads / NOT ON AUDIBLE?)
I'm pretty sure every booknerd could read Harry Potter over and over again, and I am among them. If I'm feeling down I usually pick it up and read a chapter or two but I haven't read the series from start to finish since DH came out. I've heard some of the audio for this series and Stephen Fry does a stellar job narrating!

What books would you like to reread? Have your listened to any of these audiobooks? Are they worth a listen? What are some of your favorite audio books? Leave me a comment with your thoughts. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY READING!

  1. I haven't read so many of these. O_O I do agree with Fangirl, Harry Potter, the Lunar Chronicles, and Throne of Glass though!

  2. I listened to the Harry Potter series on CD (found at my library) and they were read by Jim Dale and it was the most incredible thing ever. He does an amazing job and really brought the story to life. I can not recommend it enough.

  3. See I knew I should've just tacked Harry on! But he's such a given, at times I forget to include him in these top 10 picks. But it's like come on! Harry IS A GIVEN! Even if I forget to mention it sometimes! LOL!

I bought Nil on impulse back in September. It was a signed copy, so hence the impulse, plus is sounded good and I thought I heard good things! Better read that for the first time around soonish so I can be set for May!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. I'd love to reread Throne of Glass! I only read if for the first time a couple of months ago, but it's one of those books that I could sit down and happily read again at any time :) I just started Crown of Midnight yesterday, so *fingers crossed* I'll love it! And yes to the Lunar Chronicles! I loved both Cinder and Scarlet, and I'd love to get my hands on Cress straight away, but I'm thinking of holding off until the new year (purely to cut down on the wait time until Winter :D) Great list!

  5. I have re-read Throne of Glass each time a new book comes out. It's so fantastic. I've never heard the audiobooks before though, I hope they have a great reader! And you really can't go wrong with the Harry Potter books/audiobooks. Great selection!
Happy reading from The Roaming Librarian.

  8. Pretty much all of those except HP are on my list to read the first time, so I can't really re-read them yet. But once I get around to them, hopefully I"ll want to. I'm participating in an HP re-read right now, though. :D :D Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy Tuesday!

  9. Audiobooks are PERFECT for re-reads! Great twist on the topic. :)
I listen to a lot of audiobooks with my kids (we like to listen while eating breakfast and lunch or on longer car rides), and there are some fabulous ones for middle grade books. Both Stephen Fry and Jim Dale are fabulous at HP. We recently LOVED Chitty Chitty Bang Bang read by David Tennant.

  10. Honestly, I am not an audiobook girl. The format just rarely does it for me. I find myself zoning out, and then I realize an entire chapter has gone by without my attention, and I get irritated. I've heard from others that the Harry Potter narrator does a really excellent job, though, for what it's worth.
