February Wrap Up and March TBR

Read in February: Retellings
March? It's already March? How can that be. Wasn't it just January. I mean I'm not complaining, I'm ready for spring but sheesh, time flies! So February was an interesting month for me. I did not read as many books as I expected to this month. I guess I probably bit off more than I could chew. December and January are much longer months and they have holidays where I could take the time to read where February is short and didn't offer as much free time.

But despite the fact that I didn't read a lot of books, I am doing really good on my challenges. For the Debut Author Challenge, I read two debuts bringing my total for the year to four. I read three books for the Netgalley/Edelweiss Challenge for a total of seven for the year. And I read two books I own for the TBR Pile Challenge. I'm also up to 19 books for the year which is on track for me Goodreads Challenge of 100 book.

I also DNF'd two books which I almost never do and replaced them with a book I wasn't planning to read at all. I did read a total of seven books and counting the two I had read in January that I considered February books that is a total of nine books. My theme was retellings so I got to read some interesting and creative books and had my first 10 star review of the year. I also read two Classics. They were great and I can't believe it took me this long to read them.

1.) Fairest by Marissa Meyer

To Be Read in March: High Fantasy
This month's theme is High Fantasy. I'm so excited to read these books. There are some that I am incredibly excited about. Some I have been really wanting to read for a long time. Fantasy is my favorite genre. I've been reading some fantasy here and there but the last time I did a high fantasy month was last September and I read some total favorites then.

The Series

Seraphina and Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman - Add to Goodreads
You had me at dragons but even more you had me at dragons in human form and the lack of trust that humans have for them. I've hear it's got a lot of mystery elements and that it's pretty atmospheric so I'm excited to read it!

The Winner's Curse and The Winner's Crime by Marie Rutkowski - Add to Goodreads
Everyone seriously raves about this series and how beautifully written it is. Of my book blogger friends I have not seen any reviews less than four stars and most are five. It sounds like a series I would love.

ARCs

The Bookseller by Cynthia Swanson - Add to Goodreads
This is Historical Fiction and the last time I tried to throw a HF into a month that it wasn't a theme it didn't work very well for me. But this one is a "book for book lovers" so I'm on board.

Nightbird by Alice Hoffman - Add to Goodreads
I have not read any Alice Hoffman but she's been on my list for awhile. This one sounds like a gorgeous low fantasy/magical realism novel.

The Walls Around Us by Nova Rem Suma - Add to Goodreads
This is also magical realism but it is one of those mysterious old houses kind of novels which I always really enjoy.

New Releases

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab - Add to Goodreads
I'm basically done with this book and it is so freaking fantastic! Read this book. Thieves, Multiple Londons, Magic, Devious Villains, Secrets, Mystery, all the amazingnesss!

Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver - Add to Goodreads
This is not at all High Fantasy. It's a Contemporary Mystery/Thriller but it comes out in March and I'm really excited for it so I'm going to toss it in the shake things up.

Other Reads

The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss - Add to Goodreads
So in January I spent the entire month reading the first book in this series The Name of the Wind and I really liked it so I'm excited to read the sequel. I didn't do a full-month read in February so I need to amend that.

So that's my plan. I may add some back-up books but after not reading the books I had planned last month I think this month I will keep things light and only plan on these books.

What did you read in February? Did you read any of the books I mentioned?

What are you planning to read in March? Have you read any of the books I mentioned or do you plan to read them? What did you think? Leave me a comment with your thoughts. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY READING!
