Top Ten Tuesday: Series I Read on Recommendations

A weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

I have been blogging for awhile now but I definitely remember a time when I was the new kid on the block. It was a time when I felt like there were all these amazing books and series that I had never heard of with sequels coming out that I wanted to read. So there are a ton of series that I started late and read because they had so many great recommendations from bloggers. Here is that list.

1.) Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson - My Review
As much as I talk about this series, I have to admit that I was late to the party. I had even read Steelheart first before I actually took the time to read this series. I marathoned all three books in the original trilogy about two years ago and the rest is history.

2.) Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas - My Review
Hard to believe that I didn't start this series until Heir of Fire came out. But I think this is one of those series that is super popular within the blogosphere but not necessarily outside of that. But I did finally read the series and I am glad I did because I am obsessed

3.) The Raven Cycle by Maggie Steifvater - My Review
I actually met Maggie before ever reading any of her books. I had heard great things about this series in particular and so I went to her signing. And I figured if her books are as fantastic as she is then I was in for a treat. And I was.

4.) The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo - My Review
I wasn't as late to this series as I was to some. But I didn't read it until Siege and Storm was our for a little while. That book came out right when I was exploring the idea of doing BookTube and so I saw a lot of rave reviews and wanted to read the series.

5.) The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer - My Review
That was about the same time that I learned about The Lunar Chronicles too. I saw so many bloggers and booktubers raving about this series and it sounded so fantastic. But I didn't read the series until Cress came out and I wish I had read it sooner.

6.) The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken - My Review
I can't remember when I first learned about this series but I know it was the case with so many of these books, a sequel was coming out and people were gushing about the first book on blogs and BookTube. I finally read the series a few months before In the Afterlight came out.

7.) The Diviners by Libba Bray - My Review
So the reason this book is on the list and not some other Libba Bray books that I read late is because I really dragged my feet on this one. I didn't read it until Lair of Dreams came out and it was like two years after learning about this book.

8.) Outlander by Diana Gabaldon - My Review
I have wanted to read this series for a really long time because of it's high praise but the fact that there are like eight books and they're all like 1000 pages long intimidated me. But recently this year I read the first one and I want to eat the rest of them.

9.) The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss  - My Review
I know a lot of fantasy fans who love similar adult fantasies to me who loved this series. I can't remember why I started to be really interested in this series but I know that I waited a long time to read it even after seeing great recommendations.

10.) The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce - My Review
And last but certainly not least is this series which I know so many people love. It has amazing reviews and I've had it recommended to me many times. I finally read it like six months ago and I really liked it. I wish I had read it as a kid tbh.

There you have it. Some books that I loved and I read based on recommendations. I wish I had read all these books a little earlier too. What books made your list? Leave me a comment with your thoughts. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY READING!

  1. I still haven't read Mistborn but other audibooks keep getting in the way of my getting the trilogy! Hopefully next month I can get the first one!

  2. Outlander, soooo good.
I own Name of the Wind and I haven't read it either. It's one that I know people love, but for some reason it intimidates me. The same with the Tamora Pierce series. I think books that are that beloved are scary.

  3. Oooh, I should have added The Name of the Wind to my list! It was actually recommended to me by one of my Hubs' employees, which at first I dismissed because you know how it is when people find out you read and they recommend any book they've ever actually read and tell you that you need to read it. But I was in the mood for a fantasy, and I had an Audible credit, and the rest is history. Now I might have to try Mistborn!

  4. I really want to read Mistborn! I've never read anything by Sanderson although I will be when I get to the end of the Wheel of Time series. A lot of people have recommended The Raven Boys to me too but I still haven't gotten to it! Great list :D

  9. I listened to the first Outlander book on audiobook and it was like 32 hours... I liked it, but I'm not sure if I want to continue the series or not. However, I have watched the first season of the show and I definitely want to continue that! :)

  11. I was intimidated by how long the Outlander books are as well! I really enjoyed the first one but I haven't set the time aside to read another million page book again yet lol
